Reggae Saturday

For months now I’ve been awakened by a haunting and familiar sounds. It’s like emerging from a dream where you are wandering around a sad and emotional tropical carnival and you transition seamlessly into your dining room staring at your record player with mysticism. My boyfriend has been listening to Dub Side of the Moon, by Easy Star All Stars. Hearing this album for the first time was like seeing your mom after a Glamour Shots makeover, it’s familiar but strikingly different and a little odd. Like haunting images from my child viewed through a distortion mirror. Easy Star All Stars make Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon flow seamlessly with their creative dub reggae style. This amazing album has been on the charts since 2003! Easy All Stars also released cover albums of Radiohead’s Ok Computer, called Radiodread, and The Beatles’s Sgt. Peppers’s Lonely Hearts club band, called Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band, and their own o.g. album, First Light among other releases. I’m in love.
